Romelio
The name Romelio honors the producer who tended the vineyard for decades. Romelio was a genius, a wise man. He farmed the vineyard with a horse, and he cut the grass and placed it in the grape vines by hand. His neighbors had bees that ate the grapes before harvest. He put up this natural barrier to protect them. The grapes didn't get sunburned or dried. The wine was tense and fresh. It's a great loss that Romelio has died and left us.
Humanized Landscape
The story is that I wanted to make wine near the area where my father was born. There's a river nearby called Mataquito, and I used to swim in it with some cousins, the Chatos, one of whom works making wine in Rioja, Spain.
